Arms trafficking from Kosovo to Albania, 34-year-old arrested in Maminas with 3 pistols and 34 cartridges

Durrës police have cracked down on a case of arms trafficking from Kosovo by arresting a 34-year-old man who was transporting them.

During a search of his car in Maminas, 3 pistols and 34 cartridges were found on him, while 1 iron fist was found at home.

The 39-year-old passenger from Kosovo also ended up in handcuffs for failing to report a crime.

Police announcement:

Durrës/The operation codenamed "Hallkat" is being finalized, against the trafficking of firearms from Kosovo, with the aim of selling them to criminal groups.

3 pistols, dozens of ammunition, 1 vehicle and 1 cold weapon were seized.

A citizen who was transporting firearms by vehicle was arrested in Maminas.

The passenger, a resident of Kosovo, is also in custody for failing to report the crime.

As a result of investigative and operational work, with the aim of preventing criminal events, through the detection and suppression of cases of firearms trafficking in Albania, with the aim of selling them to criminal groups in different cities, specialists from the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Special Operational Force of the Durrës Police Department, finalized the operation codenamed "Hallkat".

As part of the operation, citizen MB, 34 years old, resident of Kukës, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "Trafficking in weapons and ammunition" and "Unlicensed production, possession, purchase or sale of cold weapons", as well as citizen DN, 39 years old, resident of Prizren, for the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime".

During a search of the vehicle in which they were traveling in Maminas, 3 firearms (pistols) and 34 cartridges were found, suspected to have been trafficked from Kosovo. Further, during a search of the 33-year-old's apartment, 1 cold weapon (iron handle) was found.

The investigation continues to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens who may have been involved in this case.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
