After the Parliament gave the green light, the Special Prosecutor's Office addressed the Special Court with a request for the appointment of the security measure "arrest in prison" for the former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj.

Along with the request for arrest, SPAK has also requested permission to check his apartments.

SPAK's request was received by judge Erjon Bani, who will have to review SPAK's investigative material within 48 hours and then issue a decision.

After the court's decision, if SPAK's request is accepted, it is expected that the police will search all of Ahmetaj's apartments and search for him.

Legally, the search procedure in Albanian territory for the former minister will take at least two weeks, until he is declared a fugitive. Only after this moment, SPAK makes its international search announcement.

Meanwhile, SPAK already has the opportunity to also investigate the suspicious travels of Arben Ahmetaj, which until today could not be checked in the TIMS system due to immunity.

The possibility is not excluded that in the request of SPAK submitted to GJKKO, there will be arrest warrants for other persons besides Arben Ahmetaj, based on the fact that SPAK asked the Council of Mandates to keep the voluminous file secret, due to the fact that there are other persons involved .

Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj is under investigation by SPAK for the charge of corruption in 6 cases, concealment of wealth and money laundering.
