The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Klodiana Spahiu, has responded to the accusations of Democratic MP Bardh Spahia regarding the appointment of Yllka Kukalaj as head of OSHISH.
Through a reaction on Facebook, Minister Spahiu explained the reason for the decision, which is based on the skills and professional work that Yllka Kukalaj has done over the years.
"Mr. Bardh Spahia has publicly asked about the appointment of Yllka Kukalaj. He has the right to ask. I have a duty to answer."
Why Yllka Kukalaj?
Because in that job I don't need someone to teach me the job. I need someone who knows it.
Yllka Kukalaj is an economist. She headed the budget and payroll sector in the municipality of Kruja, then the city hospital, for years, as head of the contracting authority.
He was in that hospital when the earthquake hit, when the pandemic came, when the building was rebuilt, and that's where I met him at work.
Anyone who has gone through this service path knows how much a bed costs and how much a piece of equipment costs.
To those who say that Yllka Kukalaj is "anonymous," I say yes, she is certainly anonymous for the political cafes of Tirana. She is not anonymous for the hospital she has run, for the thousands of patients she has served, and for the great weight of responsibility she has borne.
For cousins: there is a very old way of bashing women who take on public office.
The professional career disappears and the tracing of the genealogical tree begins.
Men are counted for their heroism. Women are counted for their cousins.
This is not my way.
Yllka Kukalaj will be judged for what she does at OSHISH, like any other leader I will appoint.
With me, the professional comes before prejudice and the citizen comes before concession.
Therefore, Yllka Kukalaj in the direction and therefore the detailed review of a procedure found open in reverse.
"I know this method. I came for this method. I will not give up this method," wrote the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Klodiana Spahiu.
