Albanian caught with drugs in Ireland: Don't deport me, I'm bisexual!
Ergis Metaj

A young Albanian man has been arrested with drugs by the Irish police, and is suspected of being part of a criminal gang that deals with drug trafficking and distribution.

It is about the citizen Ergis Metaj, who had ordered the drugs from the criminal group through a camouflaged package.

According to local media, the value of the drugs inside the package, if sold, was 119,736 euros.

Metaj initially claimed that he was innocent, saying that he had received a television as a gift, but later he admitted that there were drugs inside the package and he was forced to take it because the person who sent the package owed him 15,000 euros. According to him, this debt had to be repaid by receiving the package.

Metaj had gone to Ireland with his wife, seeking asylum. Asked by the judge what was his basis for seeking asylum in Ireland, Metaj replied that he had a problem with people in Albania regarding the religion of his wife's family.

"What kind of threat are you under?" asked the judge.

"It's about my sexuality. I am bisexual", answered Metaj.

The prosecutor told the court that there was a deportation order for the defendant and it would take effect when any sentence imposed expired.
