A 26-year-old man of Albanian origin and a 22-year-old woman from Florence, both accused of illegal possession of narcotics, were arrested by the Italian police on Thursday evening.
The operation took place during a service aimed at cracking down on drug-related crimes. The operatives stopped the young man, already known to the police, while he was receiving a delivery of food. After the control, the man reacted violently, pushing and hitting the officers with hard elbows.
Despite all the resistance, the officers managed to neutralize him and continue the operation, then going to the young man's house, where they also found his girlfriend.
Inside the apartment, between the bedroom and the living room, more than 7 kg of drugs were found, mainly hashish, but also cocaine and marijuana. Along with the narcotics, a precision scale and a vacuum packaging machine, likely used to pack doses for retail sale, were found.
Both young men have been arrested. The man was sent to the Sollicciano prison in Florence, while the woman, without a criminal record, was placed under house arrest. The 26-year-old will also have to answer for the charges of opposition to a public official and serious assault.
