United and in a fraternal spirit, the bishops of the Catholic Church in our country addressed a message of love and hope to the Albanian people this Wednesday on the occasion of Christmas.

In their greeting, they emphasized that Christmas is a special moment to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, inviting believers to be closer to each other, to forgive and to share joy with those who need it most.

The bishops' joint message emphasizes the importance of unity, forgiveness, and sharing joy, calling on Albanians to live this holiday with love, hope, and peace.

Archbishop Gjergj Meta, in his message, said that the Christmas greeting is made jointly by all bishops to send love and hope to the Albanian people.

"Dear brothers and sisters, we would like to extend this Christmas greeting to you together with the Bishops of Albania. We would have liked His Excellency Simon Kulli, Bishop of Safa, to be part of this greeting, but we are sure that he is wishing us a Merry Christmas from heaven and praying for us. Each of us has a word to address to the people of God who are in Albania ," said Meta.

While Monsignor Giovanne Peragine said that Christmas reminds us of God's presence in our lives and encourages us to give and forgive others.

"On the occasion of the feast of Christmas, together with my brother bishops, I would like to address a message of hope to all of you. God became man and dwells among us. Yes, Christmas reminds us that God is close to us. He enters our daily lives. He becomes especially present where there is difficulty, uncertainty and suffering. Celebrating Christmas means feeling the presence of God. Do not think only of ourselves, do not try only to receive but above all to give. not to gain everything for ourselves, but to open the doors of our hearts to others. Only in this way will Christ be born and will always remain in our lives ," said Bishop Giovanne Peragine.

Archbishop Arjan Dodaj expressed that the light of Christmas illuminates us from the darkness, bringing hope and joy to our lives and to our community.

"The people who walked in darkness saw no great light, and upon this dark valley, a powerful light shone. It has multiplied joy, it has increased joy, so says the prophet Isaiah in the ninth chapter. This is the experience of Christmas, the experience of coming out of darkness. The experience that touches man to the last insurmountable mystery of what is the mystery of death, as our brother Simon also marked, but we know that in faith, this light shines. And God through his offering shines in our lives and in front of this manger in Bethlehem, we invite everyone to celebrate, to contemplate this God who shines in the darkness of our existence, to make our church also filled with the divine light of Jesus, our people to come out of the dark spirit of every distance, every discouragement, every lack of hope ," said Dodaj.

Finally, Monsignor Ottavio Vitale, in his message, said that Christmas brings the message of peace and the call for reconciliation with God and with each other.

"Dear brothers and sisters, I am happy to address you all on the occasion of Holy Christmas, the feast that the Church celebrates every year, commemorating the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Let us prepare our families to receive with prayer and joy the one who is coming, the Redeemer. God be with us!

Change and return to me says the Lord. This is the news that is given to us on this holy Christmas. How can we rejoice at the announcement of the angel who brings the news of the birth of the Lord of Peace. If we are not people of peace, how can we say we love God and do his will, if we are not willing to forgive those who offend us. This Lord of peace who is coming, has died for us and for our sins, to reconcile us with the Father. Merry Christmas”, concluded his greeting, Archbishop Vitale.
