Police have arrested a 62-year-old man in Mirdita for allegedly setting a fire. Anton Deda has a history of arson. According to the "blues", this man has set five other fires in recent days.

" The 62-year-old was arrested as part of the police operation codenamed "Piromania 2", after a 48-hour investigation, based on information obtained in the operational route and on-site tracking with drone equipment, as he was suspected of being involved in deliberate arson.  

The services of the Mirdita Police Commissariat successfully finalized the second phase of the police operation codenamed "Piromani", enabling the capture and arrest in flagrante delicto of citizen AD, 62 years old, resident of the village of Rraja e Valës, Rrëshen Administrative Unit, Mirdita Municipality ", the Police statement states. 

" His arrest was carried out for the criminal offenses of "Destruction of property by fire" and "Destruction of forests and forest environment by fire." At the time of his capture, the 62-year-old had just lit a fire in the village of Rraja e Valës.

From the investigative actions and the follow-up on the ground, it has been documented that, during the previous days, this citizen had lit 5 other fires.

As a result of the fires, an area of ​​about 15 hectares has been engulfed in flames, while work continues on the ground to completely extinguish the fire and bring it under control. Firefighting services, in cooperation with the services of the Mirdita Police Commissariat, continue to work to isolate and extinguish the fires.

"The verifications carried out show that citizen AD has a previous record of intentional arson ," the announcement continues. 

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
