From the investigations, it has been found that the German license plate "RE HX 112" entered the Albanian territory through the border point of Morina by 28-year-old Nikoll Sherrniku from Fushë Kuqe e Kurbin, who was notified of the arrest in connection with this crime in the premises of Shënkolli prison in Lezhë, where he has been since August of last year, accused in connection with two other crimes.

Sources close to the investigative group indicate that the German license plates are provisional license plates given by the German state to Nikol Shërnik, after the latter bought a vehicle in Germany.

Provisional license plates were given so that Shernik could use them when transporting the car to Albania, where he would issue new Albanian license plates to the car. The car and the provisional license plates in the name of Nikoll Shërnik have been brought into Albania from Kosovo and marked in the TIMS system.

But, for the investigative group, Nikoll Sherrniku has stated that he has no knowledge about the assassination of "Don Bosco", since he was in prison at that time. Shërniku has claimed that he left the license plates in the premises of the Transport Directorate in Lezhë, where he had license plate the car bought in Germany with Albanian license plates.

The police suspect that the gun attack was part of a chain of clashes between two rival criminal groups, a version that is being strengthened even after the discovery of the ownership of the license plates of the vehicle used in the assassination.

It is suspected that the German license plates "RE HX 112" were taken from Nikol Sherrniku's vehicle and given to members of a criminal group operating in the area of ​​Laçi and Lezha.

The police claim that after the expiration date of these license plates, Nikol Shërniku removed them and gave them to members of a criminal group operating in the area of ​​Laçi and Lezha. This group is believed to have financed and organized the assassination of Fatjon Murat's men, as revenge for the murder of Briland Martinaj, Diklen Vata and Besmir Hoxha.

Nikoll Sherrniku is known as a member of Ervis Martinaj's group and a close friend of the latter's murdered nephew, Brilant Martinaj.
