Fire in Kruja

A resident of Kruja has recounted to TV the moments of fear as the flames approached his apartment and within minutes surrounded the entire area. He says that family members and residents tried to keep the fire under control with water tankers, while quickly removing the children from the house. According to him, the situation turned into chaos as the entire neighborhood was evacuated and there were fears that the flames could also include a tailor.

"It was a real horror. For 5 minutes, the whole house was surrounded. We kept the situation under control with two water tankers. The firefighters came just to put out the small fires. Mom said, 'Don't leave the house, we'll burn inside.' We went out, we took the children out. The yard was filled with people who kept the fire under control. Those firefighters kept it under control until 10 o'clock. Then they approached the house, the fire broke out in front. They took the water supply warehouses. It was unprecedented chaos. There has never been a fire before. The whole neighborhood was being evacuated, the fire department's road was blocked. The whole neighborhood was terrified. We were afraid a factory would explode," he told Report TV.

Another resident of Kruja has recounted the moments experienced during the fire, when flames surrounded the area and forced families to leave their homes. She says that her two sons were left among the flames, while she herself was unable to leave because of the fire.

"Thank God my children saved me. What happened here last night, only our souls know. We took the children and ran to the village. I had my two sons in the middle of the flames. There was damage, only the houses were saved. The helicopters were here until dinner. I couldn't walk because of the flames, they caught me and took me downstairs. The children were terrified, but the elderly were fine ," the resident told Report TV.
