According to Greek media reports from Evangelismos Hospital, doctors have begun the process of resuscitating 95-year-old hierarch Anastas Janullatos, a process that is expected to be long-term and extremely delicate.

The critical 48 hours for the Archbishop of Albania have passed and doctors are waiting to see the evolution of his health condition.

According to Evangelismos Hospital, Archbishop Anastasios remains intubated but hemodynamically stable in intensive care, where he was admitted last Friday after the lengthy surgery he underwent to treat gastrointestinal bleeding.

As reported, the 95-year-old had a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, which doctors attempted to treat from the moment he was admitted to the Athens hospital.

Janullatos has been at Evangelismos Hospital since Friday, January 3, when he was urgently transferred to Athens from Tirana by Air Force plane. He had been hospitalized in a clinic in Tirana since December 30. The initial diagnosis was seasonal flu.
