At the request of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office, the National Bureau of Investigation, by decision of the Special Anti-Corruption Court, yesterday conducted searches in a basement with old items, similar to a warehouse, as part of the investigations that prosecutor Ols Dado is conducting for Tirana Mayor Erjon Veliaj.
The warehouse where the searches were conducted is located in the Blloku area of the capital, where agents conducted searches to seize items that may be of value to the investigation. Up to this point, it is not known from unofficial sources whether the agents have seized any items or not.
Earlier, there were checks at the Harabel center, where Veliaj's wife, Mrs. Ajola Xoxa, is a co-founder, as well as at the apartment of Veliaj's brother, Arbër Veliaj, and also at the latter's office, where some materials were taken.
For this investigation, on December 26 of last year, the Mayor of Tirana, Erjon Veliaj, was questioned, and he provided explanations to the special anti-corruption structure for about 5 hours. For the same investigation, Ajola Xoxa was also questioned for about 4 hours at SPAK.
