A tragic accident took the life of a mother and son at noon on Monday in Berat. 25-year-old Klaudia Xhaferaj was traveling in an ML type car, together with her minor son, when she lost control of the vehicle and fell into the waters of the Osum River.

The accident was fatal for mother and son, who could not survive despite some citizens running to save them trying to get them out of the car.

A young man, who was among the citizens who tried to save the mother and her 6-year-old son, confessed the difficult moment. He testified that the child, who was unconscious, was initially taken out of the car. While stressing that if there were more people, they could have saved at least one of the victims.

The young man said that the ambulance stood across the road, while it was not known how many people could be in the crashed vehicle.

" I saw the moment when they took out the first child, he was unconscious. It was cut short, the ambulance increased here, while the bodies were across. People would get out of the car, how would we take them across the road. It was absurd. The first ambulance crossed the river, the other here. It was not known how many people were in the car. They died from drowning, because the car slowly entered the river. We failed to open the doors, absolutely not. The car was in a position where they could not get out. There were 5 of us, if there were 10 others we could have turned the car around and saved the life of the child or the mother ", said the young man.
