The Special Prosecution Office today questioned the mayor of Vau i Dejës, Kristian Shkreli, as a person under investigation.

The socialist mayor was questioned for about an hour by prosecutor Dritan Prençi for the criminal offense of "active corruption in elections."

Shkreli, elected under the SP banner, is suspected of buying votes during the campaign for the May 11 parliamentary elections in favor of Tom Doshi's Social Democratic Party.

Three days after the elections, the Special Anti-Corruption Structure seized Kristian Shkreli's cell phone.

A few days before the May 11 elections, it was reported that the socialist mayor had broken the trust of Prime Minister Edi Rama by gathering votes for Tom Doshi's PSD. In a meeting during the election campaign, Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed Shkreli with the words: Kristian, don't play with two goals, Kristian! Don't play with two goals!
