Hysni Ymeri is the person who lost his life as a result of an explosion that occurred in the Perash area of ​​Shkodra. The causes of the event still remain unclear.

Official sources from OSHEE indicate that, according to preliminary verifications, the explosion is not suspected to have come from electricity, arguing that the power of the explosion was very large, while at the site where the explosion occurred there was a panel with electrical meters with a voltage of up to 400 volts, which theoretically and technically, according to OSHEE, is impossible to cause such a powerful explosion.

Meanwhile, the anti-terrorist group, which came from Tirana, has inspected the scene and has not found any explosive remnants with the naked eye, but has collected materials that will undergo laboratory analysis. Chemical analysis is what will determine whether or not TNT was present.

On the other hand, the forensic expertise at the Shkodra hospital, after exhuming the victim's body, determined that the 67-year-old man lost his life due to electrical shock.

According to this report, the victim's right hand was damaged by contact with electricity, as well as head injuries from burns, while his body was unharmed. The fact that his right hand was blackened by electricity and not his left, which was on the side of the electrical panel when he tried to climb the building, has convinced the forensic team to determine death by contact with electricity, adding the burns to his head from the flames.

The victim's son, Alban Ymeri, told the police that they have no problems with anyone and that there have been no threats. However, investigations are continuing to determine the exact cause of the explosion, while authorities are not ruling out any leads until the full expertise is completed. Chemical analysis will be what will seal whether we are dealing with an accidental or criminal event.

But who is the victim Hysni Ymeri?

The 67-year-old is the brother of a person sentenced to prison for a murder that occurred many years ago in Shkodër. In the early 90s, Shefqet Çekorja was killed in Kiras by the brother of the victim who lost his life today. After that event, the perpetrator was arrested by the police who solved that murder and was sentenced by the court. Meanwhile, a few years later, according to sources, the two families reached out for reconciliation. Shefqet Çekorja is the brother of Ismet Çekorja who was killed in September 2022 near his apartment after some statements he made a few days before that event.

Hysni Ymer's son, who lives outside Albania, came on December 25 because his mother suffers from cancer and the doctors did not give her much time to live. Even before the event, he was in the hospital with his mother.

The 67-year-old, after drinking coffee like every day with his neighborhood friends, was taken from the bar to go home and then to the hospital to his wife, but as soon as he entered the entrance of the building on the first floor, a powerful explosion occurred. Hysni Ymeri made it to the hospital alive, while he died a few minutes later due to severe head injuries.

A few years ago, Hysni Ymer's uncle's son killed his wife and then shot himself. Meanwhile, another cousin, citizen Dritan Ymeri, killed citizen Ilir Aliaj, a doctor by profession in Shkodra, in 2017 after a property dispute. The perpetrator managed to escape from the police and is suspected to have been outside Albania since then.
The police are awaiting the final decision of the anti-terrorist unit on whether or not there was a TNT explosion in order to then give the proper direction to the investigations and to determine whether it was criminal or accidental.
