A photo of 36-year-old Glarurtin Kaçi has been released , who was arrested by Tirana Police after being accused of fraud.

He presented himself as a journalist for the investigative show Piranja with the aim of obtaining money from various people.

According to the police, Glarurtin Kaçi took 8 thousand euros from a citizen, to whom he had introduced himself as a journalist and threatened to publish a fabricated video if he did not give him the money.

The case was reported by citizen LB, who stated that Kaçi contacted him, convincing him that "compromising" material would be broadcast in the media if he did not pay the requested amount.

After the complaint, the police organized an operation to capture the perpetrator, who is now in custody.

"The Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Specialists, in cooperation with Police Commissariat No. 1, arrested and detained citizen GK, 36 years old, after the whistleblower LB stated that this citizen, presenting himself as a staff member of an investigative show, had taken the sum of 8,000 euros from him, in order not to publish a video he had fabricated," the official announcement states.

Police say investigations are continuing to fully uncover the circumstances of the incident and any other person who may have been involved.
