The flows of the Vjosa River are increasing rapidly and risk flooding several villages in the Fier municipality along the river's course.

In a statement to the media, the mayor of Fier, Armando Subashi, stated that the level of flows in Memaliaj is at the level of 6 meters, and as they are increasing, from the experience of previous years, as they approach the level of 6.5 meters, the danger for our area begins and appears, while emphasizing that all these endangered areas are being monitored continuously.

Faced with this situation, Subashi has appealed to residents to first begin evacuating livestock in the stables built near the river.

The emergency services of the Fier municipality are positioned on the ground near the Mifoli Bridge in order to intervene in time in the event of an overflow from the riverbed.

Meanwhile, the hydroelectric plants are working at full capacity and there have been no problems with the electricity supply.
