The Constitutional Court convened today, February 6, to hear the government's appeal against the decision of the Constitutional Court, which suspended Belinda Balluku from her duties as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy.

It remains to be seen whether the Court will issue a decision on Balluk after the public hearing held on January 22, or whether it will again ask for time like a week ago.

The GJKKO, at the request of SPAK, suspended Deputy Prime Minister Balluku from duty in November, after she was accused of abuses with the Llogara tunnel tender, but Prime Minister Edi Rama described this as a violation of his powers.

With this argument, he took the case to the Constitutional Court, and a public hearing with all parties was held on January 22.

On the other hand, SPAK has also addressed a request to the Assembly, requesting the lifting of Balluk's immunity as an MP, granting authorization and paving the way for a stricter security measure such as house arrest or prison.

The Socialists have postponed the meeting of the Council of Mandates and Immunity, claiming that they must first wait for the Constitutional Court's decision. However, the opposition argues that the request for arrest has nothing to do with the suspension and therefore the claim used by the majority does not hold true.

Defendant for violations in the 190 million euro Llogara Tunnel tender and under investigation for 7 other procurement procedures related to the construction of the Great Ring Road, SPAK says that Balluku, while on duty, risks destroying investigative evidence and intimidating witnesses.
