“On tourist ports in the Republic of Albania”

The Parliament approved the draft law on tourist ports a few days ago.

Regarding this draft law, the EU delegation reacted to Top News , stating that the changes will need to be closely assessed by their services, especially in the field of public procurement and their compliance with EU legislation, which requires transparent and competitive procedures for the award of concessions, including for ports.

“We are aware that the Parliament adopted amendments to the Law “On Tourist Ports in the Republic of Albania”. The amendments will need to be closely assessed by our services, particularly in the area of ​​public procurement and their compliance with EU legislation, which requires transparent and competitive procedures for the award of concessions, including for ports. We also understand that the new text includes provisions present in the Law on Strategic Investors. This is a law that Albania is expected to repeal as part of the steps of the Reform Agenda and in the framework of the closing conditions for Chapter 27. Albania should refrain from any step that contradicts these commitments”, the official statement reads.
