The "5 Maji" neighborhood, a forgotten construction site

The "5 Maji" neighborhood in Tirana, once trumpeted as a model of urban renaissance and modern reconstruction, today resembles more of a forgotten construction site where a lack of accountability is penalizing hundreds of families.

The reality on the ground speaks of a total abandonment by the government, which seems to have fulfilled its mission only by propagandizing the project on paper.

Today, residents face an alarming situation: hills of neglected soil surrounding the area. These masses of soil are not just construction waste, but a serious threat to car garages and ground floors.

Every time it rains in Tirana, fear of floods and landslides grips the neighborhood.

But the problems do not end there. Investments in new buildings show clear signs of a lack of quality. Construction companies, having benefited from lucrative contracts, do not bear any responsibility for technical defects and premature degradation of the structures.

Residents complain that it is unacceptable for a new neighborhood to turn into an urban ghetto less than five years after construction began.
