Doctor Ilir Alimehmeti has commented on the infections in Albania from ' Nile fever '.
Alimehmeti emphasized that the government does not publish reports and that all the neighbors in Balllkan have cases, but the government has not transmitted the cases.
" West Nile fever is not something new, it is something we know, it is transmitted only by mosquitoes, so de facto the first action that should have been taken in the interest of public health is the elimination of mosquitoes, from the spring to the larvae and then in adults.
We see this as news this year, but even in other years it is impossible that there were no cases, as long as all the countries in the region around us report cases year after year. When it comes to three loss of life, we can no longer say that there are 17 or 30 or 60 suspected cases.
The mortality rate from this disease is 0.1%, SO 1 IN 1000 dies, so if we have 3 deaths, that means we have thousands of infected. The positive thing is that out of 1000 people, 800 do not have any symptoms at all, that is, they are asymptomatic, they pass it quite easily, of these 2000 that remained, generally have mild symptoms, abdominal pain, muscle pain, temperature, so mild symptoms, no very specific.
But out of these 1000, 10 of them will show symptoms of affecting the central nervous system. And these are the cases that the ministry talks about, and it forgets all the others, that is, it forgets 99% of the cases.
Immediately in the areas where these cases have appeared, a major disinsection of the area should be done ," said Alimehmeti for Syri TV .
