A message of pain, but also strength at the same time. Fragile, but also powerful words that love can conquer everything, even a disease like HIV-AIDS.
The mother of the boy, now 3 years old, who was infected with HIV in 2021, according to the parents in the hospital, dedicated a message to her son on the World Day against HIV/AIDS.
She writes that she finds strength in her son and that there are days when the pain overwhelms her, but she continues to move forward.
Despite all the anxiety about the tests, she emphasizes that she will never stop fighting for her son, for his future and for his happiness.
It was November 27, 2021, when the two parents learned that their 1-year-old child had been infected with HIV. Their suspicions were on the QSUT hospital, in the pediatric intensive care unit, where the boy was admitted for several days after suffering from bronchopneumonia.
FULL MESSAGE
My son, my precious soul,
Today, as I write about you, it seems as if time has stopped and my heart feels every sensation as if it were the first day of our pain and hope. It has been a year since the last time the word returned to the shelter of my thoughts, and while this date of December 1st marks an undeniable fact, it also represents how far we have come, my son.
It seems as if nothing has changed, but in fact our world has experienced great changes. Today, if tears steal my smile, you run to me, soothing my heart with a hug. If I happen to feel like I'm falling, your strength, even the simple smile of a child, makes me get back up and keep going without stopping.
Our life, my son, is a challenge that is lived every moment. It doesn't give us time to think about surrender. For you, it is not yet time to explain the full story of your life. But it's never too early to prepare you for what awaits you. It's never too early to learn to love yourself, to know your strength, and to understand that God is always by your side, guiding you every step of the way.
People, my son, are free to come and go. But one thing is certain: no one has the right to hurt you, to make you feel less than worthy. You are a precious gift, a blessing to everyone who is lucky enough to know you. You are growing up in a world filled with love and a child who grows up with love will always convey the best values in every step of life.
Until yesterday, my thoughts were filled only with fear for your life, praying to have you by my side, experiencing each day with silent anxiety. Today, as I see you grow up full of joy and life, as I listen to you talk and explain your feelings, I realize how far we have come. You are already building friendships, enjoying life and pursuing knowledge with all the passion of a happy child. Every moment with you is a gift, and every day that passes I feel more than a blessing, your life is for me.
The wound in my heart has not yet healed. There are days when the pain washes over me like an endless ocean. But every time that dark wave washes over me, I find the strength to swim again, to keep going for you. The anxiety about the tests and their answers has not faded, but in the face of fear for you, my son, I always find a new strength.
You are my eternal purpose, my son. I have not done all that I possibly deserve, and the feeling that I could do more will accompany me until the end of my days. But one thing is certain: I will never stop fighting for you, for your future, for your happiness. You are the hope and motivation of my life and you will be the same for others who need strength and hope.
You will love life my son, and life will love you as much as I do. Together, we will build a future filled with love, dignity and courage to face every challenge that comes our way.
Always with love and devotion,
Your Mother.
