Former director of AKSHI, Mirlinda Karçanaj, spoke for the first time tonight on "Top Story" about SPAK's accusations against her for tender abuses in the institution she headed.
She says she found herself in a story that is not hers.
"I did not choose to remain silent, but I found it impossible to speak. I suddenly found myself in a world that I was unprepared for, a world turned upside down. I lived locked not only within four walls, but with that loneliness of predetermined guilt, stoned from all sides. But also with the responsibility of a mother who had to protect my children, when I could not protect myself.
I lived like a name in a file and not as a person who has the right to protect himself.
I did not come here to blame anyone, but for treating me like a person I am not. I want to emphasize that every process must be investigated, every responsibility verified, but not by humiliating whoever that person is.
"How can I be innocent when my story has been told by all those who don't know what this story is like? When I haven't been asked about all the black that has been publicly put on me ," she said.
She has stated that she does not expect anyone to believe her, after all the accusations and claims that have been made about her.
"The digital transformation of AKSHI has been a vital motivation for me ," Karçanmaj declared during her speech, adding that an extraordinary revolution has taken place in the institution she has led.
"I don't expect anyone to believe me, especially after all that they've heard about me. But I hope my bell will be heard, when the word is spoken, to follow a legal process that is not biased, in which the accused is not presumed guilty from the beginning. I owe it to my two children, my family, everyone I've worked with and know me, to tell the truth publicly.
A revolution has taken place in the ANA that is extraordinary. It has changed the way the public and citizens receive services. In just 4 years analyzed, over 1700 years have been saved by citizens and 1 billion kilometers that citizens would have needed to go from one office to another.
The public revolution of the AKSHI is what no one can undo, even if there is truth in what is being investigated. The digital transformation of the AKSHI has been a vital motivation for me that has made me go out in the morning to go to work and stop there late in the evening for 12 years.
To say that all those who have made Albania proud are to blame, because they are part of the ANA, to say that those who have made Albania totally electronic are to blame is totally... ", said Karçanaj.
The Supreme Court decided to change the security measure for the former director of the Albanian National Academy of Sciences, Mirlinda Karçanaj, from house arrest to mandatory reporting.
