Genta Tafa Bungo was sworn in as Commissioner against Discrimination in today's session in the Parliament.

Her name has been contested by opposition MPs.

While Tafa was being sworn in, opposition MPs contested the seat.

Gazmend Bardhi was heard saying that this is a shame.

"This is a shame, Chairman, that lady (Genta Tafa Bungo) has discriminated against the north, she has been used politically.

"He can't go to an independent institution. It's a shame," Gazment Bardhi was heard saying.

We recall that on May 7, Tafa was voted in as Commissioner for Discrimination with 83 votes in favor from the Socialists in the Albanian Parliament.

The financial law pedagogue and former Secretary General of the National Chamber of Bailiffs in 2017 received the majority of votes to head the Independent Qualification Commission, until 2020.

The Independent Qualification Commission was the first vetting link faced by Albania's judges and prosecutors, who were checked for their wealth, ties to organized crime, or professional skills.
