Izet Haxhia has appealed against the decision given to 21 years in prison for the murder of politician Azem Hajdari.

The former bodyguard of Sali Berisha has been declared guilty by final decision for the event of September 12, 1998, where the torch bearer of democracy was killed.

Sali Berisha's former bodyguard claims that he is innocent. Even before, Izet Haxhia was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of Azem Hajdari, but he did not accept the charge and requested a retrial claiming that he had new evidence.

We recall that in 2006 Izet Haxhia was arrested in Turkey, while in May 2020 he was extradited to Albania to serve the 25-year prison sentence he received from all levels of the Albanian judiciary for complicity in the murder of MP Azem Hajdari. .
