The Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK) has formalized the investigation into four criminal offenses against former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj.

The next step that remains within the competence of SPAK is whether this structure will address the Assembly with a request to remove the mandate of the deputy or not, the former number two of the government. Invited to the show "Albania LIVE", journalist Elkeir Bushkolaj stated that if the former minister is found guilty, he risks a minimum of 15 years in prison.

"SPAK has sent requests to foreign countries to find out if there are undeclared bank accounts. On the other hand, in order to start the control and investigation against Ahmetaj, the Parliament must remove the MP's immunity. SPAK's request to remove the former minister's immunity will come in a few days, there will be developments soon in this direction. If the charges are proven, Ahemtaj risks up to 15 years in prison. But investigations can change investigation. Because as happened with Saimir Tahir, who in the end was only convicted for abuse of office. He has managed a lot of money, for example earthquake funds. Of course, other people are also involved in his affairs. We have had concrete accusations about the abuse of funds, however, we have not had lawsuits." - declared the journalist.
