He killed her inside their home. The 44-year-old woman worked seasonally in Thassos and had returned to celebrate their 16-year-old daughter's birthday.

The 44-year-old was a victim of domestic violence for many years and was murdered by her husband on Wednesday afternoon, inside her home in Rodopi. 

The woman had decided to separate and had scheduled a meeting with her lawyer today to proceed with divorce proceedings, however, her perpetrator took her own life the day before the meeting.

What does the forensic expertise say about the murder of the 44-year-old...? 

A single stab wound to the neck, according to the findings of the forensic examination, was what caused the victim's death.

The stab wound was deep, with the blade reaching and penetrating the right lung, causing severe internal and external bleeding.

According to the forensic examination, no other injuries were found on the body, while death is estimated to have occurred very quickly, approximately within 3 to 5 minutes of the impact.

According to information, the knife used was approximately 20 centimeters long.

In the village of Dialambi, everyone has the best words for the unfortunate 44-year-old. As they report, she was a fighter who took care of her family.

For this reason, during the summer months she worked seasonally on the islands, as she did this year when she worked in Thassos and returned to celebrate her 16-year-old daughter's birthday.

Speaking to protothema.gr yesterday, the lawyer representing 44-year-old Emsa Meço said that the victim had decided to divorce the 53-year-old and that they had recently separated.

The reason for all the episodes of domestic violence caused by the perpetrator appears to have been his jealousy, while it is not excluded that the murder occurred when he learned that his wife was going to file for divorce.

It appears that the 53-year-old was taking medication and had previously been admitted to a psychiatric clinic, but it was determined that he did not need further hospitalization.

In 2022, the woman had reported him for domestic violence while they were in Crete, and although he was subsequently arrested, he was released.

This was not the only time the perpetrator used verbal violence and displayed violent behavior towards his wife, as it appears that other incidents have occurred from time to time, and for this reason the 44-year-old wanted a divorce.

On the other hand, a relative of the 53-year-old described him on protothema.gr as a "good man who we never expected to do something like this," noting that they knew about the quarrels with the victim, but never expected him to take his life.

The murder occurred at noon on Wednesday, when the 53-year-old stabbed the 44-year-old woman in the neck, while her 16-year-old daughter and their 19-year-old son were at home at the time.

The minor saw her mother die before her eyes, while the 19-year-old was the one who hugged her and took her to the hospital without wasting any time. However, she was pronounced dead there.

Immediately after the heinous crime, the 53-year-old stabbed himself and consumed an unknown amount of liquid (possibly pesticide or oil), attempting to end his life, but without success.

A criminal case has been filed against him by the Department of Criminal Investigation and Prosecution of Crimes in Komotini for unintentional murder, domestic violence and violation of the Law on Weapons, while he is hospitalized under guard without being in danger of life.
