What started as a serious incident with gunshots and panic among residents has revealed an unusual plan to find hidden gold. Maliq police, supported by the "Eagle" Special Forces, have arrested a 40-year-old Albanian and a 48-year-old Greek after gunfire in the village of Orman.

The incident was recorded after residents of the village of Orman alerted law enforcement that a person was shooting in the air with a firearm, terrorizing the area and endangering their lives.

Thanks to the immediate response, the Police forces located and neutralized the perpetrator, identified as citizen KA, 40 years old, resident of Orman. During the operation, a Kalashnikov-type firearm and combat ammunition were seized from him. The verifications showed that the 40-year-old was a person with a significant criminal record, previously convicted of theft, as well as for the production and sale of narcotics.

The "hunt" for gold and the arrest of the Greek citizen

The perpetrator's friend, Greek citizen DP, 48 years old, residing in Athens, was also arrested. He is accused of the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime", as he was with the 40-year-old at the moment when the latter was emptying the magazine of the Kalashnikov.

But, the investigations revealed another detail about his presence in this village. During the search in the Albanian's apartment, a metal detector was found. According to preliminary police investigations, the Greek citizen had brought this device from Athens and had traveled to Maliqi to search for gold (hidden treasures) together with the 40-year-old.

As material evidence, a Kalashnikov-type firearm was seized; a quantity of combat ammunition; a metal detector (for finding gold/metals); cannabis seeds (found in the 40-year-old's apartment).

The file and procedural materials have been transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Korça, which will continue the investigations to fully elucidate the motives of this event.
