A preliminary hearing is being held today at the Criminal Court for two of the most important cases of the moment: the file against Ilir Meta, Monika Kryemadhi, her mother Fatime Kryemadhi, Pirro Xhixho and Ema Çoku, as well as the file against Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, his wife Ajola Xoxa and 28 other individuals and companies.

The previous hearing on Meta's case was postponed after his lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, requested the disqualification of judge Irena Gjoka, claiming a conflict of interest, as according to him, Gjoka is being investigated by SPAK over a hidden conviction in Greece.

Meanwhile, a preliminary hearing for the "Veliaj" file is also being held today, where in the previous session, prosecutor Altin Dumani presented a 50-page summary of material and requested that the case be sent to trial.

Lawyers for some defendants requested a dismissal of the case or a summary trial, while Veliaj himself requested a physical copy of the file since, as he claims, in Durrës detention he is unable to use the USB that was handed to him.

He is accused of money laundering, failure to declare assets, passive corruption in 9 episodes, abuse of office and bringing prohibited items into the cell, while Ajola Xoxa is accused of failure to declare assets, concealment of income and money laundering.

Former MP Klotilda Bushka is accused of actions that hinder the discovery of the truth.

On November 3, the Constitutional Court upheld Veliaj's mandate as mayor of Tirana, overturning the government's decision to dismiss him. Today, the Constitutional Court is expected to decide whether both files will go to trial.
