The next court session was held at the GJKKO against the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and 10 other defendants, who will be tried by a new panel of judges after being tried in a normal process.

The three judges who will review Veliaj's separate file are chairwoman Elsa Ulliri and members Flora Hajredini and Besmir Stroka.

SPAK prosecutor Ols Dado requested a postponement of the hearing and suspension of Veliaj's pre-trial detention, a request that was accepted by the Court. According to him, four defendants have become an obstacle to the continuation of the trial due to their absence or the absence of their defense lawyers.

"SPAK considers that we are in the conditions to postpone the session, as the obstacle is caused by the non-appearance of the defendants or their lawyers. We request the suspension of the detention terms for Erion Veliaj", declared Dado in the hall.

Lawyer Plarent Ndreca reacted against this position, calling the request unconstitutional and unfounded. According to him, the absence of some defendants cannot infringe on Veliaj's freedom, since he has appointed legal representation and the lawyer is present at the hearing.
