An Albanian man has been sentenced to two years in prison by the British authorities, after he was caught by the Welsh police in a cannabis farm worth 156 thousand pounds.
It is about 22-year-old Gerald Hoxha, who, according to the British media, told the Court that he was forced to work there, to repay the money he had paid for the illegal way to Wales.
During the hearing at Cardiff Crown Court it was learned that Hoxha was co-operative with the police and lowered the shutters to expose the hundreds of plants he was watering inside the building. Video footage captured from inside the building revealed that 366 plants were growing inside, divided into 5 rooms, which are expected to have a potential yield of between 10.2 kg and 30.7 kg.
The court heard from the Albanian's lawyer that Hoxha was a man of pure character who had been pressured into growing the plants in order to pay off a debt to those who secured his entry into the UK.
During sentencing, Judge Richard Twomlow told Hoxha that he was entitled to a 25% reduction in his sentence after pleading guilty, but would still be jailed.
"It would have been a worthwhile and profitable operation for those above you. You have played what is known as a minor role. You are in this country illegally and the Home Office will decide where you go in the end of punishment."
