Charlie Kirk, the powerful right-wing activist and executive director of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), was reportedly shot on Wednesday while organizing an event in Utah.

In posts circulating on social media, Kirk is seen being hit while speaking and sitting under a tent on the campus of Utah Valley University. Kirk was there as part of the "American Comeback Tour," which is organized by the Utah Valley chapter of TPUSA. There are also videos of students on campus fleeing the sound of gunfire.

Mike Lee, a Utah senator, posted on the social media "X" shortly after reports spread that Kirk had been shot to say that he was "following the situation at Utah Valley University closely. Please join me in prayer for Charlie Kirk and the students gathered there."

Ashley Moody, another Utah senator, also tweeted at "X" to say that her "office is monitoring the situation at Utah Valley University. I pray for Charlie Kirk, the students, and this nation."

A Utah Valley University police spokesman confirmed to the Guardian that there were shots fired on campus.

Shortly before the shots were fired, Kirk tweeted: “We.Are.So.Back Utah Valley University is READY for the first stop of the American Comeback Tour.”
