New details have come to light from the investigations of the Guardia Di Finanza, which led to the arrest of the two administrators of Wisdom University in Tirana, who set up a fraud scheme, where they distributed fake diplomas to students in Italy.
From the interceptions provided by the GDF, it is revealed that a senior official of the Ministry of Education in Albania was bribed with a Louis Vuitton bag, worth 1200 euros, which then paved the way for the university's accreditation in Albania.
La Republica writes that the official in question is Shqiponja Telhaj , who was in charge of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education , known for short as ASCAL.
This agency is a government body, while Telhaj turns out to have been chosen by appointment directly from the prime minister. Telhaj had the duty to follow the entire procedure for the accreditation of Wisdom University.
At the head of the diploma scheme that 'flooded' the Italian market was newlywed couple Savino Cianci and his wife Lucia Catalano, both university administrators. Taking advantage of the connections they had in Albania and Italy, they took over the direction of the University with the promise that they would transform it into a teaching center for all students of excellence in the Balkans.
On social networks, Nino Cianci has posted photos from his life in Albania, where there is no shortage of meetings with officials, professors and a busy university agenda.
Husband and wife are now behind bars, while their accomplices, all Italian citizens, ended up in the cell./ VoxNews
