The race for the new director of the Guard of the Republic of Albania fails at the last minute.

The candidates who participated received an email from the commission, informing them that the competition has been finalized without a winner.

Sources inform A2CNN that one of the candidates who was evaluated by the commission with the highest points lacks one of the legal criteria to be declared the winner, such as the second cycle of higher education.

For this reason, the competition has not yet been finalized with a winner. It is expected that the competition will be opened again.

The message sent to the candidates states: " Following the competition procedure for the selection of the candidate for the position of General Director of the Republic Guard, conducted in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Interior No. 102, dated 05.06.2024, we inform you that, after completing all the foreseen stages of verification and evaluation of the candidacies, the procedure has not been finalized with the announcement of a winning candidacy.

The process was conducted in full compliance with the legal and sub-legal framework in force, guaranteeing respect for the principles of legality, transparency, impartiality, meritocracy and equal opportunities. We thank you for your participation and interest shown .
