The residents of Divjaka have continued their protest today, for the second day in a row, for the removal of the paid beam at the entrance to the Karavasta National Park. Yesterday, they clashed with the police and forcibly removed the tollbooth.
This Friday, they started a march from the center of the city, supported by the local leaders of the DP Branch there and Lushnjar MPs.
Yesterday's clash with Lushnja Police officers and giving money to this cause has made the number of residents who came out to protest higher today, on this second day. According to them, the imposition of the payment is unfair and will burden their pockets more.
Trau is also placed on the only national road in the area, under the administration of the Albanian Road Authority. This is one of the reasons why residents are protesting, because this road is also the only one that is not and one of the reasons why residents are protesting, because this road is also the only one that leads to the beach.
The Ministry of Tourism stated yesterday that the payment of 50 Lek will be applied only to pedestrian tourists, while for vehicles it will be 150 Lek. However, residents say that the road does not only charge entry to the park, but also to the beach, contrary to what the Ministry declares.
