A 78-year-old woman was seriously injured after being beaten with a cane by her husband, aged around 80, following a brief conflict in their apartment.

The incident occurred this Saturday in neighborhood no. 1 of Pogradec.

The elderly woman suffered head injuries and, after first aid at the Pogradec hospital, will be transported by helicopter to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana for specialized treatment.

The perpetrator has been escorted to the police station, while the police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

This is the second case of domestic violence in Pogradec in a few days, where just a few days ago the husband stabbed his wife, causing serious injuries, while today an elderly man took his wife to the hospital.
