Marriages between Albanians and Serbs who live mainly in rural and uninhabited areas are a trend of recent years, where agencies have already been put into action, which enable contacts through payments made by both parties or mainly by the groom's side.
Many have seen this phenomenon as a problem, since Albanian girls who go and get married in Serbia or North Macedonia take their husband's surname and become Slavized, while others have described it as a good solution for those who have remained single and want to have one family. There have also been concerns about the payments made by Slavic grooms to the girls' families, which is also considered a "purchase".
However, not all attempted marriages end with "the couple inheriting" bringing financial consequences for the people involved.
Abcnews.al brings the denunciation of a 41-year-old Serb from Nis, named Vladan J., who claims to have been defrauded by an Albanian woman married to a Serb in the Republika Srpska of Bosnia by taking 1,000 euros from him.
Vladan has also written to the Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi, regarding this fraud, asking him to solve the problem and return the money as well as the identification documents that they had taken from him under the pretense that they would marry him to an Albanian woman.
According to Vladani, he was cheated by a woman named Elona, originally from Dobrači Shkodra, married in Republika Srpska, Bosnia, also to a Serb.
The 41-year-old says that after receiving his identification documents, Elona asked him for another 500 euros in order to introduce him to an Albanian girl. She also sent him a photo of a girl, while constantly claiming that the money had not gone to the bank. Thus, Vladani is again forced to send him another 500 euros, but here is also the moment when Elona from Shkodra cuts off contact with him without introducing anyone.
Below is his full denunciation:
First I have to tell you that I don't speak Albanian and they are communicating with Google Translate. My name is Vladan J. and I live in Nis, Serbia. I have to say that I was deceived by an Albanian woman named Elona Q. from Dobraçi in Shkodra. She is the mother of four children and is married in the Republika Srpska of Bosnia.
In June 2021, she asked me for 500 euros as payment to start the procedures and I started. Then we met in Podgorica and there he told me that he had not received the money, but the date for meeting the girl who she said wanted to marry me was approaching.
Then he asked me for another 500 euros, which I sent through the Unicredit Banja Luka bank.
I then traveled to Albania to meet the girl, but Elona then told me that she did not want to marry me, and that's when I realized that I had been deceived.
Now she has my documents as well as 1,000 euros, which I sent her. I want to get back my documents and money as I am sick and my mother has also suffered a great shock from this created situation.
