The former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, and his two associates arrested for abusing European Union funds appeared before the court at 12:30.
Today, the special judges will assess the security measure for the officials whom SPAK accuses as the authors of 8 fictitious tenders, while it is known that the former minister Beqaj has denied the accusations leveled against him. Currently, the session is suspended for a 30-minute break.
Yesterday, the Court could not verify the 8 security measures, among them against former official Ilir Beqaj, identified as a misuser of European Union funds, through fictitious procurements and services that were approved by SASPAK.
Their lawyers asked for additional time to study the dossiers of the prosecutor of the case Elida Kackini, and for this reason the judge postponed the hearing for today.
Kackini's investigation burdens the position of the former minister of health, who in this case is being investigated as the former director of SASPAK, and who during one year in this position through Ermal Kurtulaj is suspected of diverting almost 500 thousand through services such as conferences in the field of environment and energy euros.
In one case, for a two-day conference, the service provided was procured for 125,000 euros, the same amount procured by the Ministry of Tourism at a price of 38,000 euros for both events, the same company was contacted for fictitious invoices that were signed by the third arrested person, Alfred Nikolla.
Other company administrators are under house arrest and forced to appear: Marinela Jazoj, Bledar Leka, Bjona Zijaj, Elton Marini and Gazmend Haxhia.
SPAK says that from the checks and interceptions it has obtained evidence, for each of them a notebook seized by Ermaul Kurtulajt. The documents for the Gzona restaurant and for a vehicle that are declared as hidden assets by the former minister Beqaj are also evaluated as evidence.
