Time magazine revealed that US President Donald Trump spent hours "consulting" with Grok, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence chatbot, about Venezuela a month before the operation to capture the country's then-president, Nicolas Maduro.

In an extensive article on Trump's activities during his second term in the White House, the magazine, citing a Washington insider, reports that Trump asked Grok how Venezuelans would react if the US were to arrest their president.

The response he allegedly received was that many Venezuelans would celebrate Maduro's departure.

According to Time, Trump's questions were asked during a private meeting with Musk in the Oval Office in December 2025. In addition to Venezuela, Trump reportedly spent hours asking Grok questions about his presidency and legacy, among other things.

When the US military captured Maduro on January 3 and celebrations ensued, Trump was reportedly impressed by Grok's apparent accuracy, according to Time.

While it remains unclear whether Grok's responses before the operation to capture Maduro influenced Trump's decision, the report does not confirm what influence, if any, the chatbot had on the president's thinking, nor does it suggest that Grok was involved in military planning.
