An unimaginable incident happened in a regional football match in Chilca, Peru, where lightning struck the field and knocked 7 players to the ground at once, leaving one of them dead.

Ironically, the referees had just stopped the match due to weather conditions and were sending both teams to the dressing rooms when the lightning struck.

The 39-year-old defender, Jose Hugo de la Cruz Mesa , died immediately on the field.

Mesa's death was announced when the injured arrived at the hospital in the Huancayo region, while the video showing the moment of the lightning strike is shocking and is circulating massively on the network.


The goalkeeper Juan Choca , who was very close to the football player who died, is fighting in the hospital but in a very critical condition with severe burns on his body.

The other injured players, aged 16, 19 and 24, were treated with medical aid and are reported to be in stable condition.
