Amedspor, led by Albanian coach Besnik Hasi, has climbed to the top of the Turkish Super League in its debut season in the elite, becoming the surprise of the beginning of the season.

The club from Diyarbakır, closely linked to the Kurdish community, was founded in 1972 and played in the lower divisions of Turkish football for decades.

Because of his identity, the team and fans have faced restrictions and incidents during away matches over the years.

In 2024, Amedspor reached the Turkish First League for the first time, while ending the 2024/25 season in ninth place.

A season later, with Mbaye Diagne's 29 goals, the team finished second in a points tie with Erokspor and secured promotion to the Super League.

After three changes on the bench during the season, promotion to the elite was achieved under the leadership of Sertac Kucukbayrak, while Albanian Besnik Hasi was later appointed coach.

After six weeks in the elite, Amedspor has a record of 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss, with a goal difference of 15-7, while defeating Besiktas 3-2, Trabzonspor and Basaksehir 5-0.
