The transfer of Dardanian striker Vedat Muriqi to the Italian club Lazio for the hefty sum of 17.5 million euros has become the focus of an investigation by the well-known Italian show "Report" on Rai3.
What stands out and receives the main attention in this file is the "Albanian League", a network of Albanian protagonists who are suspected of having played key roles behind the scenes of this purchase, which at a sporting level resulted in a failure.
At the center of journalistic investigations and criticism is Lazio's sporting director, Albanian Igli Tare. Although he has been one of the most successful figures of the Italian club over the years, this transfer has raised strong suspicions of a conflict of interest. According to the investigation of the Italian television, his brother, Genti Tare, who serves as the Albanian consul in Istanbul, the city where Muriqi played with the Fenerbahçe jersey, was also involved behind the scenes in the deal.
To reinforce this fact, the well-known Italian football agent, Vincenzo Morabito, directly emphasized the weight of the Albanian factors during a shocking statement on the show: "Tare has a brother who is the Albanian consul in Istanbul, and suddenly you pay 18 million euros for a player who is scandalous. Coach Simone Inzaghi has put his hands on his head for this purchase. Spending so much money on such a player, for Lazio is madness," Morabito said.
But the Albanian presence in this transfer does not end with the Tare brothers. Rai3's investigation has revealed that at the party and negotiations of the deal, in addition to agents such as the Giuffrida brothers and the player's lawyer, another Albanian, Shkumbin Qormemeti, appeared out of nowhere as an intermediary. He is described by the Italian media as an agent with very few players under his management, but who is an old and close friend of Igli Tare, playing a role in closing the deal for Muriqi.
Thus, what was initially presented as an important move in the transfer market to strengthen the attack is increasingly taking the form of a scheme where the close ties between the Albanian director of Lazio, his brother with diplomatic power in Turkey, and an Albanian intermediary, also made it possible to move tens of millions of euros for a very dubious transfer.
