Marcelo bids farewell to Real

After 16 years with the Real Madrid shirt and 25 titles won (the player who has won the most with Real), Marcelo has said goodbye to the Spanish club. During the welcoming speech at the press conference, the Brazilian footballer failed to hold back tears as he thanked the coaches, the Los Blancos staff as well as his family.

"I leave here with my head held high, I know that the family is proud of me. I am lucky and I have achieved everything in life with work. I have been lucky with the people who have stood by me, but this is not a genuine farewell as it seems to me as if I will never leave Real Madrid. "If you do not allow me to enter the club premises, then we will have problems", said the 34-year-old jokingly.

Marcelo then added that his dream was to play in the Champions League and that is why he signed with Real Madrid.

"When I left Brazil I had in mind to sign for a great team, to play in the Champions League and then when the opportunity came for Real Madrid then I wanted to reach as high as possible. Now I leave being the player with more titles in the history of the club, I want to thank Raul especially. As a captain you taught me a lot and I saw you as an example I would like to follow. "Now I can say with all my heart that you have been an example for me", said Marcelo who at a certain moment could not hold back his tears.
