Kosovo has won the right to organize the Mediterranean Games for 2030.

This was decided by the General Assembly of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG), which was held in Heraklion, Greece.

Kosovo's candidacy received 55 votes in favor in the General Assembly of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games, while eight votes were against and three abstained.

For the state of Kosovo, this is a huge achievement, since 26 countries from three continents will participate in this competition, and around 5 thousand athletes are expected to participate.

Kosovo's candidacy was presented by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Ismet Krasniqi, as well as the General Secretary of the KOK, Besim Aliti.

Prime Minister Kurti considered this news an "extraordinary achievement", as he congratulated all the citizens.

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has considered the decision of the General Assembly of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games, for Kosovo to be the host of the 2030 Mediterranean Games, "an extraordinary triumph of Kosovar sports!".

"Kosovo will organize the 2030 Mediterranean Games, opening its doors to 26 countries from three continents and nearly 5,000 athletes," Osmani wrote on Facebook.

Osmani congratulated the Kosovo Olympic Committee and all Kosovo institutions engaged in this great achievement.

"Without a doubt that the Mediterranean Games will be an inspiration for many young men and women, as well as for Kosovar athletes to reach the heights of success!".
