Raphael Varane has decided to retire from football at the age of 31.
The World Champion with France and many trophies with Real Madrid and Manchester United has made this decision due to numerous injuries, confirming it on his communication channels. This summer, the defender moved to Como in Serie A as a free agent.
"They say all good things must come to an end. In my career I have faced many challenges, most of them were impossible. Incredible emotions, special moments and memories that will last a lifetime. Reflecting on these moments, it is with great pride and pleasure that I announce my retirement from the game we all love.
I want to come out strong. It takes a lot of courage to listen to your heart and instinct. Want and need are two different things. I've fallen and got up a thousand times, and this time, it's time to stop and 'hang up my boots' with a trophy won at Wembley in my last match," said the Frenchman, among other things.
