Former Socialist Party MP and one of the veteran politicians of this political force in opposition and government, Petro Koçi, announces with great pain the sad news of the passing of his brother, at the age of 61.
" With golden hands and a tireless working spirit, he continued to lead his family in Fier. But ill health made him unfaithful. The fight with the oncological diagnosis continued for almost a year and a half and ended with the dawn of today. Life goes on, but our family, Ben's wife and children, and especially our mother, who with the loss of Ben, after the loss of our younger brother Arjan, only 26 years old in 1998, will remain with a broken soul ," writes former MP Petro Koçi.
Former MP Petro Koçi's sad note about his brother's departure:
Our son didn't make it! Among the 5 sons who added to the family that our father and mother created, Ben was the second.
He was born in Fier, on February 13, 1964. Although raised in the obvious conditions of a family in difficulty, he quickly turned into an energetic and sporty young man.
At the age of 8, he attended Andon Xoxa School and then continued on to a technical school to satisfy his thirst and passion for technical and electronic fields. He worked for several years as a technologist in Azotik, Fier. He was distinguished by his proud and pure spirit.
As he reached the right age to start a family, he challenged society and the mentality of the time by proudly marrying his life partner, Vasilika Gjikopulli, granddaughter of the executed politician Milto Gjikopulli. Beni did not give in to either social or family pressure, remaining faithful to his spiritual choice.
The new family had two children, Xhine and Vasili. The opening of the borders also led to Ben's escape as an immigrant to Greece. To provide for his family, he did difficult and arduous work. A few years ago, he returned to his hometown of Fier.
With golden hands and a tireless working spirit, he continued to lead his family in Fier. But poor health made him unfaithful. The fight with the oncological diagnosis continued for almost a year and a half and ended with the dawn of today.
Life goes on, but our family, Ben's wife and children, and especially our mother, who, with the loss of Ben, after the loss of our younger brother Arjan, only 26 years old in 1998, will be left with a broken soul!
