A few days ago, after a police operation, 4 employees were arrested for corruption at the Agricultural University of Tirana. Ali Rasha, Director of the Experimental Didactic Farm, Tahir Ballgjini, Head of the Agriculture Sector, Rushit Suna, specialist in the agriculture sector and Ahmet Mejdani, storekeeper at the central warehouse of UBT ended up in handcuffs.

They, in collaboration with each other, in different roles, predetermined the winner of the tenders and carried out fictitious entry and exit of goods in the warehouse.

Activist Rigels Xhemollari, through a Facebook status, comments on the event and goes even further.

He says that the Ministry of Education should be held responsible for the boards they appoint and that the Prosecutor's Office should summon the heads of the Board of Administration as defendants.

The fight against corruption should be everyone's agenda and a strong support for the teachers' salary protest. WHY?

Because the person who controls the University's tenders is its Administrator. The administrator is elected by the Board of Administration, where the Ministry of Education has the majority in this Board. So 4 Members and Administrators are people affiliated with the government. For example At the head of the Board of UBT is Arta Dollani, General Director of the National Environment Agency, while the Administrator is Edmond Terthorja.

Arta, Edmondi and their dependents bought a Blender for 2500 euros, while its real value was 250 euros. In UBT, 100,000 euros of chemical waste was stored only on paper and not in reality, according to the prosecution. So pure corruption.

Should the Minister of Education be held responsible for her appointments to these Boards? The law has taken away the right to manage money from academic staff and has given this right to people who have nothing to do with education.

The Prosecution must summon as defendants the leaders of the Board of Administration, while the Teachers must fight hard so that this money is not stolen but goes for real scientific research, for salaries and support for their articles and conferences.
