The Democratic Party parliamentary group met today to discuss diaspora vote registration.
During his speech at the meeting, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, said that the process of registering immigrants has begun, while he said that 70% of immigrants are against the government, against the mafia, according to him.
Berisha: The purpose of this meeting is our total commitment to the electoral campaign, making a new scheme in our minds, like we have a flag, one head in Albania and the other head in emigration and diaspora. Because the bicephalites follow us all our lives.
If other nations have had mythological ones, we have real ones. That's why we have real ones because today, there are many, many possibilities that more Albanian voters are abroad than inside the country.
And this is not about the diaspora of 100 years ago, because they too exist and deserve it, and we are proud of them.
But here is the word that in the last 10 years alone, according to EU statistics, 1 million and 99 thousand Albanians have left Albania for the Schengen area. The latest statistics are 1 million and 99 thousand Albanians in the Schengen area. Not to mention that absolutely from South Africa, to the North Cape and even in Greenland, there are Albanians. They are everywhere and in every country.
Serious efforts have been made. A digital center has been set up here, the identification of immigrants has begun in the branches, a series of meetings have been held in Greece, Italy, the USA, Great Britain. But if we consider the planet as a constituency, these are drops of water in the ocean, what we have done so far.
Secondly, let's be honest, the elections for half of Albanians end on March 12. Because that is the last date for their registration, then they have only one alternative: to come to Albania and they can no longer vote, with the legal mechanism approved for their vote. This also constitutes an obligation to advance this process.
