The US State Department blacklisted Artan Grubi, former deputy prime minister from the DUI.

Grubi has reacted to this decision, stating in a status on his Facebook page that he has no information regarding this decision, while emphasizing that he will make maximum efforts to bring the country into NATO and the EU.

"In the absence of detailed information, I was informed by the media about today's decision by the State Department.

"I will make every effort, with all those friends with whom we have worked together over the years to bring the country into NATO and the European Union, to shed light on this case in its entirety ," Grubi writes.

Along with Grubi, Enver Bexheti, a judge at the Court of Appeals of North Macedonia, is also included on the blacklist.

According to the State Department, Artan Grubin and Enver Bexhetin are involved in significant corruption by accepting bribes to undermine judicial processes related to the criminal conviction of Sasho Mijalkov, the former head of Nikola Gruevski's secret services, involved in massive wiretapping in Macedonia, from 2008 to 2015.

“Under section 7031(c), the Department of State publicly designates Artan Grubi and Enver Bexheti for their involvement in substantial corruption by accepting bribes to undermine judicial processes related to the criminal conviction of Sasho Mijalkov, Director of the Directorate for Security and Counterintelligence of North Macedonia. Mijalkov was designated in 2022 for substantial corruption under section 7031(c), and OFAC sanctioned him pursuant to EO 14033. Grubi’s immediate family members are also designated as part of this action,” the Department of State said in a statement.
