President Donald Trump has nominated Eric Wendt as US ambassador to Albania.

Lieutenant General Eric Wendt holds a Bachelor's degree in Law and Society from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and a Master's degree in National Security Affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

Wendt has served as an active duty Army officer since 1986. He served nearly five years in the Infantry and has since served as a Green Beret, Special Forces Officer since 1991.

Since 9/11, Lieutenant Wendt has served in Indonesia as Team Leader for the Commander of U.S. Pacific Command, Pacific Situation Assessment Team (PSAT), in Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippine (OEF-P) in Mindanao in the southern Philippines, on two tours of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan (OEF-A).

In addition to numerous staff positions, including serving as Principal Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense, he has commanded at every level of Special Forces from Team A (ODA) to Theater Sub-Unified Special Operations Command (TSOC).

TG Wendt speaks Arabic and Korean and has been awarded the German Gold Cross of Honor (for combat service in Afghanistan), the Philippine Presidential Unit Medal (for service in OEF-P), the Cheon Su Medal of the President of the Republic of Korea, etc.

Wendt was also the Security Coordinator for the United States, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.
