"It was rented for the Prime Minister's security", the minister:
Edi Rama

Edi Rama's new car was not purchased by the state, but was leased. And regarding the payment, the government has a clarification: the bill is not being paid by the state budget, but by the Socialist Party.

The issue arose after a government meeting, where the Minister of State for Parliamentary Relations, Erjona Ismaili, was asked about the Prime Minister's new vehicle.

According to her, the car is used not only for Rama's official activities, but also for his political commitments, so the payment is made from the Socialist Party's budget.

"The prime minister's car is rented, paid for from the Socialist Party's budget," Ismaili declared.

But beyond the rental, the minister also brought up another reason: the Prime Minister's security. According to her, the vehicle was also chosen based on the requirements of the Republic Guard.

The new S-Class: 121 thousand euros

The car bears the license plate AC 753 ZN and, from the model specifications, matches the Mercedes-Benz S 350 d 4MATIC, the entry-level diesel version of the new S-Class range, as seen in the video below:

A simple check reveals the vehicle that Mercedes-Benz has placed on order on January 30, 2026.

The official starting price in Germany for the S 350 d 4MATIC is 121,356.20 euros, including 19% VAT, excluding delivery costs.

This is the latest model in one of the lines that Mercedes-Benz uses as a showcase for its technology and luxury.
